Below information will help you with your planning ahead of your visit.

Visa information:

All visitors travelling to South Africa must have a valid passport and, where applicable, a valid visa to enter the Republic of South Africa.

Delegates are advised to check the visa requirements applicable to their country of residence with their nearest South African Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate prior to travel. Please note that visa regulations may change and delegates are encouraged to confirm requirements with the relevant South African diplomatic mission before making travel arrangements.

Invitation Letters:

Invitation letters will be provided to delegates who have completed registration and paid the full conference registration fee. The letter will serve as proof of registration and proof of payment. Insurance:

It is strongly recommended that delegates take out adequate travel and health insurance prior to commencement of travel. GOLD27, the organising committee and the Conference does not provide any such insurance. Further information can be obtained from your travel agent.

Accommodation:

Gold27 will be held at Gold Reef City, Johannesburg, South Africa and accommodation bookings and payments are the sole responsibility of the delegate.

Useful Information:

Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months after your intended departure date. You must also have at least six blank pages in your passport for endorsements.

Yellow Fever: If your trip starts in or passes through the yellow fever belt of Africa, you will need to present a Yellow Fever Vaccine card on entry.

Weather: In April, Johannesburg generally has mild autumn weather with warm days and cool evenings. The average daytime temperature ranges from 19.4°C to 23.5°C, with overnight lows between 8.3°C and 12.7°C. Rainfall is expected, so do pack accordingly.

WiFi access: WiFi is available at the conference venue and access to this will be provided on arrival.

Adapters: In South Africa, type C, M and N power plugs and sockets are used. Please see the image attached below. Ensure your adapter is compatible. Adapters are easily accessible at airport stores, and supermarkets.

Cash: As a safety measure, you do not need to withdraw cash to transact locally, almost all vendors, including street vendors have electronic payment systems where you can use a card or tap your device.

Safety Tips: Johannesburg is a modern city with vibrant culture, but like any major urban area, safety precautions are important:

-Avoid walking alone at night or in unfamiliar areas

-Do not display valuables (phones, jewellery, cash) in public

-Use registered taxis, hotel shuttles, or reliable ride-hailing apps (Uber/Bolt)

-Keep your hotel room locked and store valuables in the in-room safe

-Always inform someone of your whereabouts if going out

-Be cautious when withdrawing cash - use ATMs inside malls or banks

-In case of emergency, dial 10111 (police) or 112 (any cell phone network emergency)
